Phillip Sanders is an American country artist, songwriter, producer, and engineer. Born November 9, 1973 in Lake City, Florida, he lives in Midland, Texas with his family. The songs come out of traditional country — work, faith, marriage, and the long way home.

Music was already in the house. His father, Charles R. Sanders, wrote country songs, including “Behind the Teardrops.” The family line runs through gospel and country: the Lovett brothers quartet, steel player Scotty Sanders, and writer Adam Sanders, a co-writer on Cole Swindell’s “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey.” Family history even holds that his grandfather once shared a rooming house and a jam with Hank Williams Sr.

Sanders spent years in oil and gas and commercial business. He started as a writer. After waiting on other artists to cut his songs, he put his own name on the records in 2016. He writes, records, produces, and engineers the work himself.

The first single, “With Her I Am” (2018), reached the European country charts. He followed with “I Don’t Think I Will,” “Another You,” “We Do That in the Country,” “What I Didn’t Do,” and “Over a Beer.” “If I Didn’t Love You Girl” (2021) became the flagship record — more than a million streams, Texas chart success, and iTunes country peaks including No. 1 in the U.K., the Netherlands, France, and Belgium. “Empty Tacks” kept him on the Texas charts. In 2022 he received three Josie Music Award nominations, with the ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry.

Recent records include “Wide Awake In Your Memory,” “When The Night Belongs To You,” “She’s Still Everywhere,” “The Road Back Home,” and “Mine To Lose.” “The Road Back Home” climbed the ACCMA Christian Country chart. The newer songs carry the same traditional country frame, with a clearer line of faith.
